SUPPORTING YOUNG PEOPLE WITH CANCER
The mission of the charity is to bring a smile to the faces of young people suffering from cancer.
CAN WE HELP YOU?
Cancer in young adults is rare and shocking when it occurs; young adults with cancer face many challenges, from the first onset of problems through treatment and beyond. This may be at a time when they are just starting their careers and no longer wish to be financially dependent on parents.
Hatti Sandall was 23 when she was diagnosed with spindle cell sarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer. She was so grateful to her many friends and relatives who set up and supported a fund called Smile for Hatti. The goal of the fund was to enable some improved quality of life in the weeks and months leading up to her death. The financial support provided by friends enabled a stairlift to be installed, massage sessions helped ease her pain and complementary therapies meant that she never gave up hope. She wanted a charity to be set up in order to do this for others in a similar position and henceforth, what was Smile for Hatti became Smile from Hatti.
The charity is there to fund such things as complementary therapies, services or equipment. Recently it has provided food hampers, pamper session, clothes and music vouchers.
Are you currently between the ages of 18-40 and receiving cancer treatment, or do you know someone who is?
